Chennai, May 1 (Inditop.com) The country’s second largest car maker, Hyundai Motor India, increased its sales in April by 17 percent to 52,090 units, compared to the corresponding month last year.

While domestic sales went up by 28 percent, exports grew by six percent as compared to the volumes sold in April 2009.

Of the 52,090 units sold last month, domestic sales accounted for 28,501 units and exports for 23,519 units.

The company had sold 44,370 units (domestic 22,247 units, exports 22,123 units) in April 2009.

According to Arvind Saxena, director, marketing and sales, the company’s recently launched refurbished i20 model is the growth driver for the segment.

The segment-wise cumulative sales for April are: A2 segment (Santro, i10, Getz and i20) 46,059 units; A3 Segment (Accent and Verna) 5,944 units; A5 Segment (Sonata Transform) 17 units; and SUV Segment (Tucson) 0 units.
