Beijing, May 2 (Inditop.com) A record 800,000 people are expected to visit this year’s Beijing auto show, authorities said Sunday.

The event had received more than 700,000 visitors as of May 1. As many as 145,900 people visited Saturday, said a statement from the organising committee on its official website Sunday.

The 2010 Beijing International Automotive Exhibition opened April 23 and concluded Sunday.

Xinhua news agency reported that with a focus on new-energy and green technologies, the event has attracted more than 2,100 car-makers from around the world to demonstrate their technologies and products.

More than 13 million vehicles were sold last year in China, making it one of the world’s largest new car market.
