Chennai, May 4 (Inditop.com) City-based Grand Luxe Hotels is building two new hotels in Tamil Nadu at an outlay of Rs.130 crore and mulling more units in the state as part of an expansion drive, a top company official said Tuesday.
“One of the hotels will be in Pudukottai where we will convert a palace into a 27-room luxury hotel. The other one will be in Coimbatore with 120 rooms at an investment of Rs.90 crore,” Grand CEO S. Thiagarajan told reporters here.
The Coimbatore hotel will be part of a luxury mall and multiplex complex.
He said the company is in the process of refurbishing the Queen’s palace in Pudukkotai spread over 3.5 acres.
“We will be targeting the tourists who visit Thanjavur and Chettinad areas. The company is spending around Rs.1 crore per room,” Thiagarajan said.
The Pudukkottai palace will be the company’s second heritage property. The first one is the 17-acre residential complex of Madura Coats now converted into a luxury resort, Heritage Madurai in Madurai, at an outlay of around Rs.1.2 crore per room.
According to Thiagarajan, there is no other resort property in the country which has 35 villas, each having a swimming pool. The resort has 84 rooms, of which 48 are operational and the rest are being refurbished.
