Bogota, May 11 (Inditop.com) Colombian university students make the largest community among drug consumers in the Andean region of South America, a new study has found.

With regard to marijuana, 26.7 percent of Colombians said they tried it at least once, compared with 11.5 percent of Ecuadoreans, nine percent of Peruvian and 7.6 percent of Bolivian.

In cocaine consumption also Colombian students outnumber their peers in other nations of the region, Prensa Latina reported quoting Caracol Radio.

The study released Monday found that 4.6 percent of these students confessed to have used synthetic drugs in their lives, such as ecstasy.

The research carried out in the Andean Community of Nations showed that in Bolivia, Ecuador and Peru, university students admitted the consumption in 1.6 percent of the interviews.

About use of alcohol, there is a tie between Colombia and Peru, where 90 percent of the students confessed having drink at least once in their lives.
