London, May 11 (Inditop.com) English director Ridley Scott has pulled out of the screening of his latest venture “Robin Hood” at the 63rd Cannes International Film Festival that begins Wednesday.

Hellomagazine.com reports, Scott won’t be able to attend the mega event because he recently underwent a knee replacement surgery. He announced the news with “sincere regret”.

“I recently underwent knee replacement surgery and my recovery has been slower than I’d hoped. Truly, doctor’s orders are the only thing that could keep me from being there,” he said.

“My disappointment is tempered by the fact that (producer) Brian (Grazer), Russell Crowe, Cate (Blanchett) and the rest of the cast will be on hand to represent the film. I send them all my best wishes in opening this year’s festival with our film,” he added.
