New Delhi, May 14 (Inditop.com) In an ode to the Bard of Avon, designer duo Pankaj and Nidhi have created a summer line inspired by Shakespeare’s comedy “A Midsummer Night’s Dream”.
Unlike other fashion designers, Pankaj and Nidhi chose to move away from the typical way of presenting their collection through models walking on the ramp, and chose their close friends instead – at a small get together without a catwalk.
The likes of fashion designer Namrata Joshipura, renowned hair stylist Ambika Pillai, Payal Pratap, wife of fashion designer Rajesh Pratap Singh, and fashion photographer Anushka Menon were seen sporting the designs embodied with holograms and graphics.
“We chose to move away from the typical way of presenting our collection because we wanted to showcase it on real people. That doesn’t mean models are not real people,” Pankaj, who presented his collection at the Keya Kainoosh bar in DLF Promenade Vasant Kunj, told IANS.
“It is just that when people see clothes donned by models on ramp, they somehow fail to judge how they will look on them. So we chose to go with our friends,” he said.
The colour palette of Shakespearean couture was dull with beige and white and the fabrics included transparent silk, organza, chiffon silk and georgettes.
When asked how she felt being a muse, Namrata said: “It’s great. I have known Pankaj and Nidhi from the time they were students and this is my way to show my support to them in whatever they do.”
