Beijing, May 26 (IANS) China is planning to build a seven-star hotel, only the second in the world after Dubai’s Burj Al Arab.

The seven-star hotel, construction for which is expected to start in 2012 on the Hainan Island in southern China, will cost an estimated 2.8 billion yuan ($408 million).

The Haikou Millennium Hotel will be built on an artificial island which will take up 33.5 hectares, Global Times reported Wednesday.

The hotel will have 600 to 800 guest rooms, while around four hectares will be used for entertainment facilities, international tax-free shopping centres, and office apartments.

The height of the hotel is yet to be determined.

The hotel will also provide 24-hour housekeeping services, reminiscent of early English aristocratic society, the report said.
