New Delhi, May 26 (IANS) Designer duo Parvesh-Jai have sent a legal notice to Mumbai-based designer Riyaz Gangji for stealing the design of one of their outfits.

Jai told IANS a lehenga worn by Bollywood actress Jacqueline Fernandez for Gangji’s bridal collection was a straight lift from one of their designs showcased during the Bangalore Fashion Week in 2009.

He said they were shocked when they saw Jacqueline’s pictures sporting the lehenga.

‘It is not the first time. This fellow has copied our designs several times. We were in a state of shock when we saw Jacqueline wearing our lehenga which Riyaz claims to be one of his collection,’ Jai said Wednesday.

‘We first met him at the Lakme Fashion Week in March 2009. He was a registered buyer there and purchased stuff from us worth more than Rs.5 lakh for his multi-designer store Libaas. But his cheque of Rs.125,000 bounced and a case against him is pending in the high court,’ he added.

The designer duo Tuesday sent a legal notice to the Mumbai-based designer who debuted at the Lakme Fashion Week in October 2009.

IANS tried to call Gangji several times but he did not take the calls.
