Shimla, May 28 (IANS) An earthquake of moderate intensity measuring 4.3 on the Richter scale struck Himachal Pradesh Friday, an official said here.

‘An earthquake hit Himachal Pradesh at 12.55 p.m. The tremors were felt for a few seconds across the state. There is no report of any loss of life and damage to property,’ meteorological office director Manmohan Singh told IANS.

He said the epicentre was at latitude 31.2 degrees north and longitude 78 degrees east.

‘The epicentre was somewhere north of Shimla town,’ he added.

Himachal Pradesh was hit by quakes of moderate intensity March 14 this year and Sep 21 and July 17 last year.
