Los Angeles, June 5 (IANS) ‘Twilight’ star Kristen Stewart has apologised for her comments that she feels as though she is being raped when photographers hound her for pictures.

‘I really made an enormous mistake clearly and obviously. And I’m really sorry about my choice of words. I’ve made stupid remarks before, and I’ve always reasoned, ‘Whatever. They can think what they want’,’ said Stewart, reports aceshowbiz.com.

The 20-year-old star caused outrage from fans and rape victims’ advocacy organisations after she made the severe comment.

‘People thinking that I’m insensitive about this subject rips my guts out. I made a big mistake,’ she added.

Stewart has done public service announcements for the advocacy group Rape, Abuse and Incest National Network (RAINN) and for Security on Campus Public Service Announcement.

‘We appreciate Kristen Stewart’s sincere apology regarding these comments,’ said a spokesperson of RAINN.
