New Delhi, June 8 (IANS) India’s Somdev Devvarman crashed out of the first round of the 79,260-euro AEGON tennis championship with a 1-6, 4-6 loss to American Mardy Fish at Queens Club in London Tuesday.
At Halle, Germany, India’s Rohan Bopanna put up a spirited fight before going down 4-6, 6-7(11) to Thiemo De Bakker of the Netherlands in the 750,000-euro Gerry Weber Open, according to information received here.
In the doubles, Bopanna and Pakistan’s Aisam-ul-Haq Qureshi will open against Germany’s Philipp Marx and Igor Zelenay of Slovakia.
Both the tournaments are the tune-up events for the Wimbledon which begins June 21.
