Gandhinagar, June 13 (IANS) The family members of cricketers Irfan and Yusuf Pathan will be booked for forcibly evicting a tenant from their property, police said Sunday.

Gujarat’s Director General of Police S.S. Khandwawala has directed the Vadodara police commissioner to register a first information report (FIR) against the cricketers’ family on the complaint of the tenant.

The Pathan family has been involved in a row with tenant Kalpana Rochani, who took a shop on lease from the family in 2006.

The family wanted the premises vacated in 2009 but when the tenant refused, the matter landed in court.

Rochani alleged that May 7 some goons forcibly took possession of the premises and police did not accept her complaint on the incident.

She then approached Chief Minister Narendra Modi’s office, following which police recorded her statement May 26.

According to Rochani’s advocate, she approached the DGP for registering an FIR and he issued directions to the Vadodara police to do so.

The case is likely to come up in court June 15. ‘We will move in the matter after the hearing,’ a police official said Sunday.
