Lucknow, June 23 (IANS) Two more bodies were recovered Wednesday in the Saryu river in Uttar Pradesh, taking the death toll in a boat capsize a day earlier to three, an official said.

Ten people are still missing following the accident that took place when a boat with around 35 people capsized in Bahraich district Tuesday.

‘Two bodies were taken out of the river this morning,’ District Magistrate Rigzian Sampheal told IANS over telephone from Bahraich town, some 300 km from Lucknow. He said the toll could rise further.

‘There is a possibility that some bodies could have even flowed to areas outside Bahraich,’ he said.

According to police, a 40-year-old man’s body was recovered Tuesday. The bodies recovered Wednesday are that of a boy and a woman.

The Uttar Pradesh government has announced a compensation of Rs.1 lakh to the families of the deceased.
