New Delhi, June 30 (IANS) A Delhi resident was arrested on charges of raping his 27-year-old Brazilian tenant and would be produced before a court Wednesday, police said.
According to police, the victim, a mass communications student in Noida, was staying in south Delhi’s C.R. Park area since June 19.
She lodged a police complaint June 27 saying her landlord raped her twice on June 20-21.
The accused, who was arrested Tuesday after the medical examination of the victim confirmed rape, will be produced before a city court Wednesday, police said.
Meanwhile, Delhi Chief Minister Shiela Dikshit condemned the incident and asked the police to be more vigilant.
‘Such incidents should not happen. There should be a sense of safety and security for women and all,’ she said.
‘The police should ensure that such incidents do not recur. The responsibility to make people feel secure in the city lies with them,’ the chief minister said.
Recently, two Dutch women were allegedly raped and robbed of their money and passports by two men posing as tourist guides in the national capital.
