New Delhi, June 30 (IANS) The national capital continued to sweat it out despite light showers Wednesday while the weatherman predicted arrival of monsoon here by July 9.
Charan Singh, director of the Northern Hemisphere Analysis Centre, said: ‘The monsoon has reached Gujarat, parts of south Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh. We will not call it a delay as we keep a nine-day time for its arrival. So the monsoon is expected any time between June 29 and July 9.’
Ridge areas of North campus of the Delhi university, Connaught Place, and ITO witnessed light showers, while the humidity level remained high ranging between 34 percent and 66 percent.
The maximum temperature was 41 degrees Celsius, while the minimum was 31.6 degrees, both four notches above average for this time of the year.
The Met office predicts a partly cloudy sky for Thursday. It said while the maximum temperature will reach 42 degrees Celsius, the minimum is expected to be 31 degrees.
