New Delhi, Aug 9 (IANS) The country’s second largest private airline, Kingfisher Monday said it will operate two additional flights to Leh Tuesday to evacuate stranded passengers.

The company will deploy its A320 aircraft for the flights which have a seating capacity to accommodate 150 people, the company said in a statement.

The Leh town of Jammu and Kashmir’s Ladakh region has been devastated by flash floods caused by Friday’s cloudburst.

Four Air India flights reached the town Sunday to evacuate stranded passengers, most of them foreigners, while the Indian Air Force sent more planes with relief supplies.

Situated at 3,524 m above sea level, Leh is spread over 45,110 sq km, comprising the main town and 12 adjacent villages.
