New Delhi, Aug 10 (IANS) A 16-year-old girl from Orissa, allegedly tortured and molested by her employer in whose house she worked as domestic help, was rescued from north Delhi Tuesday, a social activist said. Police denied any knowledge of the incident.

The girl was rescued from a house in Rohini by an organization working for the welfare of people from northeast states.

‘She along with her sister and two more girls were trafficked to Delhi by Montu, an employment agency owner in December last year. All of them are victims of riots in Orissa,’ said Madhu Chandra, who runs the Northeast helpline.

Chandra said for six days she was beaten up and molested by Montu.

‘Later, she was sent to work as domestic help in a house in Rohini. There she was again subjected to ill-treatment by her employer, Sandeep Kumar, for eight months,’ Chandra said.

Chandra claimed that Delhi police are refusing to register a complaint in the matter.

When contacted, Rohini police denied having any information on the incident.
