New Delhi, Aug 11 (IANS) The rain gods were surely in a pleasant mood Wednesday as the capital witnessed heavy rains in the evening after a hot and humid day but as always the respite brought the city traffic to a halt.

According to the traffic police, jams were reported from across the city due to waterlogging.

Heavy traffic jams were reported from Karol Bagh, Wazirabad, Azad Market, ITO, Shankar Road, Mathura road, Lakshmi Nagar, Connaught Place, Dhaula Kuan, South Extension, Patel Nagar, Okhla, Sarai Kale Khan and Darya Ganj.

According to an official, the control room of the Municipal Corporation of Delhi received four complaints of waterlogging.

‘Generally cloudy sky with one or two spells of rain/thundershowers, which may be heavy in some areas,’ an official of the India Meteorological Department (IMD) forecast for Thursday.

According to the official, the maximum and minimum temperatures were recorded at 36.6 degrees Celsius, three notches above average, and 26.3 degrees minimum.

The maximum humidity was on the higher side at 89 percent and minimum at 59 percent. The humidity levels are expected to remain high in the coming days.
