New Delhi, Aug 12 (IANS) The restoration work in Connaught Place, the best known commercial hub in the capital, will be wound up before the October Commonwealth Games, the Rajya Sabha was told Thursday.

In a written reply to Satyavrat Chaturvedi (Congress), Minister of State for Urban Development Saugata Roy said the remaining work will be taken up by the New Delhi Municipal Council (NDMC) after the Games.

The total timeframe for completion of the work, launched in April 2009, is 30 months, she said.

‘In the short run, there may be little inconvenience to the public, though the upgradation of various services and facilities will result in more convenience in the long run,’ the minister pointed out.
