London, Aug 12 (IANS) Singer George Michael, who was involved in a car crash in July, has been charged with possessing cannabis and driving under the influence of alcohol.

Michael was taken into custody July 4 in Hampstead, north London, after he allegedly crashed his car into a photo shop.

According to the Scotland Yard, Michael, whose real name is Georgios Panayiotou, is due to appear before magistrates August 24, reports bbc.co.uk.
