New Delhi, May 4 (Inditop) Voters in the desert city of Jaisalmer in Rajasthan can escape the sweltering sun and still exercise their franchise this Thursday – thanks to mobile polling booths at their doorstep.

On May 7, the poll panel has made special facilities for at least six mobile polling booths to zip across 12 specified places in Jaisalmer district where over 2,000 people are eligible to cast their votes.

“The Election Commission has decided to have six mobile polling booths. About 2,324 voters residing in hamlets spread across the parliamentary constituency can use the facility of mobile polling stations to exercise their franchise,” a statement here said.

In Jaisalmer’s six polling stations, the Election Commission has attached these mobile booths that will visit the 12 nearest places at a specified time, the statement said.

At Menau polling station, the mobile booth will visit 46 eligible voters, while in Jesilia, about 65 voters will use the facility.

“After facilitating voting at specified places, these mobile booths will return to the main polling stations,” it said.
