New Delhi, Aug 15 (IANS) The Delhi Metro has started round-the-clock training of its new recruits who will be deployed during the Oct 3-14 Commonwealth Games, an official said Sunday.

‘Additional night sessions have been started at the Shastri Park training institute with special focus on ‘Simulator’ and ‘Test-Track’ training from 11 p.m. to 5 a.m.,’ a Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) spokesman said.

He said separate batches, each consisting of 35 to 40 students, have been formed in three different rosters in which the candidates first undergo train driving in a simulated environment and are then exposed to hands-on practical training where they drive Metro train on different modes in Shastri Park depot.

The spokesperson said the practical exposure/training of the candidates generally continues for five weeks.

Ahead of the Games, the Delhi Metro will have three more routes – Central Secretariat-Badarpur, the Airport Express line and Central Secretariat-Gurgaon – getting operational.

The spokesman said about 10 Metro stations on the Central Secretariat-Badarpur line are connected to the Games venues and will require a large number of personnel.
