New Delhi, Aug 17 (IANS) It was a hot and humid Tuesday for Delhiites as rains kept away. The weatherman, however, raised hopes by predicting showers in some parts of the city Wednesday.

‘Skies will remain cloudy with one or two spells of rain or thundershowers in some pockets of the city. Few spells may be heavier in some areas,’ an official of the India Meteorological Department (IMD) said.

The maximum temperature recorded Tuesday was 34.7 degrees Celsius while the minimum was 27.4 degrees, both a notch above the average for this time of the season, the official added.

The maximum humidity was at 95 percent while the minimum was 64 percent.

The met office predicted that the maximum temperatures will hover around 34 degrees Celsius Wednesday while the minimum would be around 26 degrees.

The total rainfall recorded in the city for the season till Tuesday was 448.9 mm, nine percent more than the average, the official said.
