New Delhi, Aug 18 (IANS) The Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) has ordered a court of inquiry into the lapses by its officers involved in the April 6 massacre of its 75 personnel by Maoists in Chhattisgarh, parliament was told Wednesday.
In a written reply to Communist Party of India-Marxist’s (CPI-M) P. Rajeev in the Rajya Sabha, Minister of State for Home Affairs Ajay Maken said the inquiry was part of the follow-up to the E.N. Rammohan inquiry commission report on the attack in Dantewada region.
Seventyfive CRPF personnel and a state police constable were killed in the Maoist attack April 6.
Several CRPF officers found responsible for lapses have been transferred out, the minister said.
On the recommendations of the commission, an inspector general was deputed by the CRPF to oversee anti-Maoist operations in every affected state, the minister said.
Steps have been taken to improve the coordination between the CRPF and the state police, he said.
