New Delhi, Aug 25 (IANS) As many as 54 more people have tested positive for dengue, taking the number infected by the mosquito-borne disease this year to 550 in the capital, an official said Tuesday.

But no death took place Wednesday, N.K. Yadav, chief medical officer of Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD), told IANS.

Places like Jamia Nagar and Okhla in south Delhi and Shahdara in east Delhi have reported the maximum cases.

Dengue is transmitted to humans by the Aedes mosquito. Its symptoms include fever, joint and bone pain, nausea, vomiting, headache and fatigue.

Delhi reported 548 cases of dengue in 2007, 1,312 in 2008 and 1,153 in 2009.
