New Delhi, Aug 25 (IANS) One person died of swine flu in the national capital, taking the toll due to the Influenza A (H1N1) virus to 24 in the city, an official said Wednesday.
The 18-year-old who died was a Delhi resident and had been admitted in Lok Nayak Jai Prakash Hospital, the official added.
Meanwhile, 34 more confirmed cases were reported in the capital Wednesday, out of which 13 are children.
The total number of patients infected by Influenza A (H1N1) virus this year has reached 693, Debashish Bhattacharya, nodal officer for swine flu, told IANS.
‘Thirty-four people have tested positive for swine flu today (Wednesday) and one person has died,’ Bhattacharya added.
Of the 24 deaths so far, 16 were from the city while the rest were from outside Delhi, Bhattacharya said.
The common symptoms of swine flu are cold, cough, fever, sore throat and headache. The Union health ministry has proposed to the states and Union Territories to make the vaccination mandatory, if required.
