Chandigarh, Aug 29 (IANS) Former Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) president Rajnath Singh Sunday dismissed rumours that he had been sidelined in the party after his stint in the top post.

‘It is totally false that I have been sidelined from the party. We should avoid such stories. I am still on track and an active member of BJP,’ he said, while talking to reporters here Sunday.

‘We have a policy in the BJP that a president will hold the post for a period of only three years. But I remained at the helm for four years,’ he added.

Rajnath Singh said that the United Progressive Alliance (UPA) government has failed to address conflicts within the country as well as international affairs.

‘The UPA government has no comprehensive action plan to handle internal conflicts. They are only worried about Gujarat, where CBI (Central Bureau of Investigation) is working in an unscrupulous manner on their behest,’ said Singh.

‘Pakistan is giving the portions of its territory (Pakistan Occupied Kashmir) to China. There are reports that China has deployed missiles near the border but our government is sitting like a mute spectator,’ he said.

Commenting up on the recent reports about the discontentment among the BJP leaders in Punjab over ties with alliance partner Akali Dal, Singh said: ‘The BJP-Akali Dal association in Punjab is very strong as it is a natural alliance. We are together for the last many years and will remain like this in the coming years. There is no strife between us.’
