Beijing, Aug 30 (IANS) China is looking for foreign professionals to fill vacant senior-level posts at its state-run companies, a media report said Monday.

Some 20 top posts are currently vacant. Positions are available for general managers, deputy general managers, chief accountants, president and vice presidents among others, China Daily reported, quoting the state-owned Assets Supervision and Administration Commission (SASAC).

Eight companies that are on the hiring spree are on the 2010 Fortune 500 list. The move was a renewed attempt to reform the personnel system of state-owned enterprises (SOEs).

In recent years, over 100 foreign professionals were hired from tens of thousands of applicants from the country’s seven recruitment centres worldwide.

The number of managers at China’s SOEs hired through public competition instead of administrative appointments has surged from 334,000 in 2004 to 521,000 in 2009.
