New Delhi, Aug 30 (IANS) Defending champion Sharath Kamal will lead India’s table tennis squad in the Oct 3-14 Commonwealth Games.

The Table Tennis Federation of India (TTFI) announced a 10-member squad here Monday.

Kamal, the highest ranked Indian at 39, will spearhead India’s challenge in the team category along with doubles partner Subhajit Saha, Amalraj Arputharaj, Soumyadeep Roy, Subhajit Saha and Sourav Chakraborty.

In Melbourne, Sharath won gold in men’s singles while the men’s team won a gold in Melbourne.

Sharath said the team is confident of replicating the feat this time around.

‘The preparation has been good so far. The team has got good exposure in the last three years. We expect tough competition from Singapore, England and Nigeria,’ Kamal told IANS.

World No. 204 Mouma Das will lead the women’s team which won the bronze in 2006.

Veteran Poulomi Ghatak, Madhurika Patkar, Shamini Kumaresan and Mamta Prabhu are the other members of the women’s team.
