New Delhi, Aug 31 (IANS) The Supreme Court Tuesday issued notice to all the eight accused in the Bhopal gas tragedy on a petition filed by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) seeking review of its 1996 judgment which diluted offences against them.

The judgment diluted the charge against the accused, including former chief of Union Carbide India’s operations Keshub Mahindra, from culpable homicide not amounting to murder to causing death by negligence.

The 1996 judgment was delivered by a bench headed by then chief justice A.M. Ahmadi.

The CBI filed the petition July 31.
