Chandigarh, Sep 29 (IANS) High alert has been sounded in Punjab and Haryana ahead of the Allahabad High Court’s Ayodhya verdict Thursday.

Haryana Director General of Police (DGP) Ranjiv Singh Dalal Wednesday said leave of all police personnel has been cancelled. More than 30,000 police personnel have been deployed in the state, he added.

Dalal said that the police conducted a flag march in various parts of the state Wednesday and it would also be conducted Thursday.

Three companies of the Rapid Action Force (RAF) have reached Haryana while four more companies of RAF have been sought. The state has already deployed five battalions of the Haryana Armed Police and three battalions of the India Reserve Battalion.

Meanwhile, the Punjab Police is maintaining high alert to contain any situation arising out of the court’s verdict, a state police spokesman said.
