Chennai, Nov 1 (IANS) With exports down by 25 percent, India’s second largest car maker Hyundai Motor India closed October with a marginal growth in sales over the corresponding period of the previous year.
The company Monday announced cumulative sales of 52,225 units (domestic 34,725 units, exports 17,500 units) for October 2010 as against 51,735 units (domestic 28,301 units, exports 23,434 units) logged in October 2009.
According to Arvind Saxena, director, marketing and sales, the strong domestic demand has forced the company to change its product mix with focus more on the Indian market.
He said the refurbished i10 model has logged 26 percent growth in the last two months.
Interestingly, the company has sold 74 units of sports utility vehicle (SUV) Santa Fe since its launch last month.
