Islamabad, Nov 5 (IANS) At least five people were killed and 36 others injured in a second mosque blast during Friday prayers in northwest Pakistan, officials said.
Senior Superintendent of Police Ijaz Khan said it was a ‘timer device that exploded when around 70 people were offering Isha (night) prayers’ at a mosque in Bada Beer area of Peshawar, the capital of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province.
Some passers-by were also injured in the attack and have been taken to the Lady Reading hospital.
At least 10 of them were critically injured and the death toll is feared to rise.
Some nearby buildings were also damaged in the blast.
This was the second blast in a Pakistani mosque Friday.
Earlier, a suicide bombing demolished a mosque in the province, killing at least 67 people and trapping others under the debris. Over 100 people were injured.
