London, May 17 (Inditop) Pakistan is unlikely to get the American drones that it wants, a British newspaper reported Sunday.
“I want drones,” Pakistan President Asif Ali Zardari told the Sunday Times. “I want transfer of technology so I can manufacture them at home and use them myself.”
Zardari has repeatedly asked to be given Pakistani “ownership” of the spy planes that are used in the war against the Al Qaeda in Pakistan’s tribal areas bordering Afghanistan.
The paper said that last week, for the first time, the US shared surveillance data collected by drones with Pakistan “but the co-operation is unlikely to go further”.
The US has so far carried out 18 missile attacks within Pakistan this year, it said.
