Patna, Dec 30 (IANS) Millions of people in Bihar will have to pay Rs.2 more for a kg of milk from Friday, officials Thursday said.
Bihar State Co-operative Milk Producers’ Federation (COMPFED), which sells milk and milk products in the state and outside it under the brand name Sudha, has increased the milk prices after an year.
A COMPFED official told IANS that a formal notification has been issued to increase the prices of milk. The new prices will be effective from Friday.
‘The milk prices of Sudha brand will be Rs.2 costlier now,’ the official said.
Sudha Gold will now be available at Rs.28 a kg and Sudha Shakti will be available at Rs.26 per kg.
COMPFED had increased the milk prices in December last year.
COMPFED’s daily milk procurement crossed the seven lakh litres mark a few months ago, and is estimated to top nine lakh litres a day shortly.
