New Delhi, May 22 (IANS) Students from the Gulf region have outperformed their Indian counterparts recording a whopping 93.23 pass percentage in the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) class 12 results declared Friday.

The pass percentage of Indian students was 81. A total of 7,519 students – 3,968 girls and 3,551 boys – appeared for the class 12 exams from various Gulf countries this year.

These students from countries like United Arab Emirates, Oman, Kuwait, Qatar and Bahrain appeared for the exams in 63 centres in March.

The overall pass percentage in the region recorded a marginal increase of 0.63 from last year.

Like their Indian counterparts, girls in the region have performed better than boys. While the pass percentage of girls was 96.30, that of boys was 89.86.

Besides the Gulf, the pass percentage of students in other countries was 92.38, an increase of 0.23 percent.

This year, 637,578 students – 264,248 female and 373,330 male candidates – took the class 12 exams in India and abroad.
