Panchkula (Haryana), March 1 (IANS) A woman and her one-and-a-half-year-old daughter were killed and her husband and nine-year-old son injured after a reversing bus mowed them down while they were asleep here early Tuesday, said the police.

According to the police, the deceased were identified as Bijli, in her late twenties, and her daughter Anjani.

The woman’s husband, Dharmender, had come to set up a toys shop at Saketri temple here during the Shivratri festival. ‘They were sleeping by the roadside when this incident happened. Dharmender and his nine-year-old son Bharat also sustained injuries in this accident,’ said a police official here Tuesday.

The bus has been impounded and a case registered against the absconding driver. ‘Very soon we will nab the driver,’ the official said.

The woman and her family had come to Saketri lord Shiva temple from Hoshiarpur town of Punjab. Saketri is an ancient shrine in Chandigarh.

The bus belonged to a Punjab-based group of colleges in Chandigarh.
