Washington, March 1 (IANS) About two-thirds of Americans aged 70 and above suffer from hearing loss, a study says.
The study, conducted by the Johns Hopkins University and the National Institute on Aging, has found that black Americans seem to have a protective cover against this loss.
The findings were published online in the Journal of Gerontology: Medical Sciences. This is the first national survey in older adults on the subject, Xinhua reported Tuesday.
Study leader Frank Lin and his colleagues analysed data from the 2005-2006 cycle of the National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey, which has gathered health data of Americans since 1971.
