New Delhi, May 26 (Inditop) Top seed Ankita Bhambri warmed up with a 6-0, 6-2 demolition of national champion Ratnika Batra in the first round of $10,000 women’s International Tennis Federation (ITF) tournament at the DLTA complex here Tuesday.
The 14-year-old wild card Ratnika looked helpless against Ankita’s power-packed returns and could win a game after losing eight on the trot. Ratnika’s four double faults added to her misery.

Ankita, 22, next plays China’s Ying-Ying Duan who beat Japanese qualifier Moe Kawatoko 6-2, 6-3.

“I am, of course, quite satisfied, though I am aware that the road ahead is going to get tougher and tougher,” Ankita said.

Ankiita’s younger sister, Sanaa, however, made heavy weather of her match against Ting Li, before winning 6-4, 7-6(3).

In the other first round matches, Parija Maloo upset eighth-seeded Parul Goswami 6-7(4), 7-6 (7), 6-1 in a marathon two and a half hours match.

Sixth seed Rusmi Chakravarti beat Uzbek Alisa Ogorodova in a see-saw tussle 6-1, 1-6, 6-3 and next plays Korean Kang Seo-Kyung who beat Swiss Stephanie Theiler 6-0, 6-2.
