Madrid, April 1 (IANS/EFE) Spain’s Preneal Group, the largest shareholder in Eolia Renovables, has sold two wind farms with 396 MW of generating capacity in Mexico’s Oaxaca state to several Mexican investors for $89 million.

The wind farms, located in the Isthmus of Tehuantepec, are being purchased by Fomento Economico Mexicano, or FEMSA, Fondo de Infraestructura Macquarie Mexico, or FIMM, and Macquarie Capital.

The two energy facilities, which have been operated by Preneal since 2004, supply electricity to several Grupo FEMSA and Cuauhtemoc Moctezuma plants.

The Preneal Group continues operating in Mexico, developing a wind farm with 100 MW of generating capacity in Zacatecas state.

Preneal, founded in 1996, has wind-energy projects in Canada, Bulgaria, Greece and Croatia.
