New Delhi, April 30 (IANS) Four people, including three Nigerians, have been arrested for a lottery fraud in north Delhi, police said Saturday.
Nigerians John, 34, Davies Inemhonlan, 31, and Sunday Mokobi, 38, were arrested Friday from Wazirpur in north Delhi. Their Indian associate Sameer Ahmed, 26, was also held, police said.
According to police, the arrested men used the latest software to send SMSes and emails to unsuspecting victims informing them that they had won a lottery worth five crore pounds.
‘The location of the sender was difficult to find. The SMSes or emails promised five crore pounds to the winner (victim) and asked personal information to open a bank account. When the respondents provided such information, they asked for a small fee to maintain the new account,’ a police officer said.
Police recovered two laptops, documents related to four bank accounts, pen-drives and data cards from their possession.
