New Delhi, May 1 (IANS) The Delhi Metro will use latest international technologies to expedite the new lines in phase III, a spokesperson said Sunday.

‘The phase III civil structures will be built using the latest international technologies so it takes less time for the construction work and causes minimum inconvenience to the people,’ Delhi Metro’s Anuj Dayal said.

For example, 25 metre long girders will be used on some of the new elevated viaducts in phase III, as these take lesser time than the conventional ones.

‘The 25 metre long girders are precast in the casting yards, brought to the site on trailers and launched with the help of cranes. It takes lesser time than the conventional segmental launching technique involving the use of launching girders,’ Dayal said.

‘We have used these girders successfully in the Delhi Metro Airport Express Line,’ he added.

According to the company, use of these girders will help expedite construction work in the stretches where the movement of trailers and cranes is possible.

‘The number of traffic diversions will be less,’ he said. The Delhi Metro’s phase III is scheduled to be operational by 2016.

Under the proposed expansion plan, lines will be operational between Jahangirpuri- Badli, Central Secretariat-Kashmere Gate, Mukundpur-Yamuna Vihar and Janakpuri West- Kalindi Kunj.
