London, May 1 (IANS) British Prime Minister David Cameron defeated German tennis legend Boris Becker in a tennis match, proceeds from which went to a charity organisation.

The prime minister played a mixed doubles match against the former Wimbledon champion at a court at his official country residence at Chequers in Buckinghamshire, the Daily Telegraph reported.

The event was organised after an auction in aid of Kirsty Club, led by Kirsty Howard, who was born with a rare heart condition.

Two women – Caroline Wynn and Sharon Kettle – bid 8,250 pounds to take part in a game with Becker and Cameron.

The single-set match went to six games all, but the Cameron-Wynn team won the tie-break 8-6.

Cameron then teamed up with Becker for a match against the two women.

The money raised will help the Francis House Children’s Hospice in Didsbury, Manchester.
