Amritsar, May 2 (IANS) Two railway policemen abducted a 19-year-old Chinese tourist from this Punjab city Sunday. The girl was later found in an unconscious state in a field on the outskirts of Amritsar, a police official said Monday.
The two railway policemen and a taxi driver are on the run.
‘The teenager had come to Amritsar with another Chinese girl. They came in contact with a Government Railway Police official at the Amritsar railway station Sunday afternoon and became friendly with him,’ Amritsar Police Commissioner Parampal Singh Sidhu said here.
He added: ‘The GRP official and his colleague accompanied the girls to the Golden Temple in a taxi. While returning, they took the taxi towards the outskirts of Amritsar.’
Sidhu said one of the Chinese girls asked them to stop the taxi to take a short break. The moment she stepped out, the two men got away with the other girl inside the car.
Shocked at seeing her friend being forcibly taken away, the girl immediately contacted the police and a massive search operation was launched.
The girl was found late Sunday night unconscious in a field on the outskirts of Amritsar, the official said.
