Jaipur, June 21 (Inditop.com) Efforts are on to rescue a four-year-old girl who accidentally fell into a 200-feet borewell in Dausa district of Rajasthan Saturday evening, officials said.
The girl, Anju, fell into an open borewell while playing with her friends near Bandikui in Dausa.
“She fell into a dry borewell at around 4 p.m. As soon as we were informed about it we started the rescue operations. She seems to be stuck at around a level of 48 to 50 feet. We have pressed machines to dig a hole near the borewell. We hope to reach her in the next two to three hours,” a Ramveer Singh, a police official, said.
Over 140 feet of the 200 feet borewell was recently filled by mud.
“Till late evening yesterday (Saturday), we were able to hear the girl’s cry. A team of doctors provided oxygen to the girl. We also offered her water and biscuits, which she took. Since the last few hours we have not been able to hear anything,” he added.
Health officials are concerned about the girl’s condition.
“With every passing minute, there is danger of the girl’s condition become more serious,” a doctor said.
A large crowd has gathered around the place to see the rescue operations, and many are praying for the girl’s safety.
“I have been sitting here praying for the girl since last evening,” said Rambhan, a resident.
This is the second such incident in the state since 2007. Suraj, a six-year-old boy, had fallen into a 180 feet borewell near Jaipur in July 2007.
However, the rescue team could not reach Suraj, who was stuck for two days, in time and the boy was found dead.
