Kanshiram Nagar (Uttar Pradesh), May 31 (IANS) A policeman shot dead a 16-year-old boy here allegedly after he continued to stalk his daughter, an official said Tuesday. The cop has been arrested.

Rajendra Singh, a head constable with the Provincial Armed Constabulary (PAC), shot dead the boy Monday with his licensed revolver in Sahawar town near here.

‘Preliminary investigations indicate that Rajendra shot dead the teenager in a fit of rage,’ Inspector S.P. Singh told reporters in Kanshiram Nagar, some 250 km from Lucknow.

‘After noticing the teenager following his 15-year-old daughter, Rajendra initially asked him to take a different route. However, as the teenager continued to follow the girl, Rajendra had a verbal duel with the victim and later shot him dead,’ he added.

According to police, at the time of the incident Rajendra and his daughter were in a car, while the teenager along with his friend was following on a motorbike.

‘The case could also be related to a love affair between the boy and girl. Investigations are on in this regard,’ said Singh
