Beijing, May 31 (IANS) Chinese Premier Wen Jiabao Tuesday joined a group of students in a basketball training session and said children should keep themselves healthy by taking part in sports and other physical activities.
Soon after arriving at the Shibalidian Primary School in Beijing’s Chaoyang district, Wen took part in a 40-minute training session with 37 sixth grade students, Xinhua reported.
Instructed by school teacher Zhang Tao, Wen learnt how to dribble and control the ball.
A successful shot won him a big round of applause from the pupils, the report said.
Wen said he was ‘very happy’ to join the students, and added that building a strong and healthy body would help them in their studies.
‘Only when children are healthy, can the country have a good future. We must keep a healthy body in order to better serve the people,’ he said.
The school has around 750 students, most of whom are from rural households or belong to families of migrant workers.
