New Delhi, June 2 (IANS) Two-wheeler major Bajaj Auto Thursday reported its highest sales for May by clocking a 20 percent growth at 358,849 units against 299,442 units in the corresponding period of the previous year.

Segment-wise, the company’s motorcycle sales in May grew by 18 percent at 317,989 units against the 269,488 units sold in the corresponding month of last year.

Major growth was also reported in the commercial vehicle segment, whose sales grew by 36 percent to 40,860 units in the month under review as against 29,954 units in May, 2010.

The company’s exports also grew by 32 percent to 126,818 units against 95,964 units in the previous year, the company said in a statement.

At the Bombay Stock Exchange, the shares of the company were up 1.70 percent to trade at Rs.1,361.30.
