Ranchi, June 2 (IANS) A former member of the Jharkhand Public Service Commission (JPSC) was arrested Thursday and sent to 14 days’ judicial custody for her alleged role in giving government jobs to relatives of influential people.
Shanti Devi was evading arrest for more than a year. She was arrested in Ranchi and brought before a vigilance bureau court.
Another former JPSC member, Gopal Prasad, is also on the run for more than a year. Former chairman of the commission Dileep Prasad was arrested three months ago.
Prasad and the other members are accused of adopting illegal means to help their relatives and politicians’ kin get government jobs.
Based on a vigilance bureau report, the state government last year terminated services of 39 officers.
