Chamba (Himachal Pradesh), June 30 (IANS) The snowbound Saach Pass, gateway to the adventure tourism destination of Pangi Valley in Himachal Pradesh, has reopened to traffic after seven months of closure, an official said Thursday.

The pass, located at an altitude of 14,500 ft in Chamba district, had been closed since November owing to heavy snowfall.

‘The pass was made motorable for light vehicles Wednesday. By next week, heavy vehicles can also ply on it,’ Resident Commissioner R.S. Verma told IANS.

The pass is the shortest road link between this town and the picturesque Pangi Valley.

The idyllic Pangi Valley attracts a number of backpackers, especially foreigners.
